Edition 01 · Junior Hockey · Mental Performance
Welcome
Welcome — and I mean that. You didn't end up here by accident, and I'm genuinely glad you're here.
Whether you're an athlete grinding through a long junior season, a coach looking for an edge to give your players, or a parent trying to figure out how to best support the athlete in your life — this newsletter was built for you.
If you're serious about taking your game to the next level, you already know that physical skills only get you so far. The athletes who make the jump — and stay there — aren't just the fastest or the most skilled. They're the ones who can manage their mind when the stakes are highest. When they make a mistake in the third period. When they're in a scoring slump. When the pressure of a playoff game is sitting on their chest at the morning skate.
"That's where I come in."
Every edition of this newsletter will give you one tool, one framework, or one mindset shift you can use right away. No fluff. No filler. Just practical mental performance content built around the real challenges athletes, coaches, and parents face every single season.
Here's a preview of what's coming your way:
02
The Reset Routine
The one tool every elite athlete uses after a mistake — and how to build yours in under 5 minutes.
03
Breaking the Stigma
Why hockey culture has made mental training feel weak — and what the NHL already knows that junior players don't.
04
The Pre-Game Routine
What elite players are actually doing in the hour before puck drop — and a 3-part framework to build your own.
05
The Slump
A slump is almost never a talent problem. It's a mental pattern — and once you understand it, you can break it.
But before any of that, I want to start with the most important question in mental performance: Who are you as a competitor? Your answer changes everything — how you train, how you respond to setbacks, and how you perform under pressure. Most athletes have never stopped to find out. That's where we start.

Mental Performance Coach · Peak Performance Coaching
I work with athletes at every level to unlock the mental edge that separates good from elite. I also work with coaches and parents to give them the tools and language to help their athletes make that leap.
My background is a little different from most coaches you'll meet — and I think that's exactly what makes this work so effective.
Former collegiate athlete (golf) — I know what it feels like to compete under pressure and what it costs when your mental game isn't where it needs to be.
15+ years in education, Pre-K through college level — I know how to break complex ideas down and make them actually stick.
Master's in School Counseling & K–12 Education — trained to understand how people think, process pressure, and grow through adversity.
Working toward a PhD in Sports Psychology — a professional commitment to the science behind elite performance.
High School PE & Health teacher and adjunct professor in Education and Psychology — I live and teach these principles every single day.
Mom of three multisport athletes (hockey, rodeo, volleyball, football) — I'm not just a coach, I'm in the stands, on the road, and in the locker room conversations just like you are.
